Losing Weight?

June 13th, 2009 at 11:28 am

Still holding at 138. Depressing!

I have been ravenous lately. I also have been running at least 20 miles a week. So why am I not losing weight? My hypothesis is that I am burning a lot of calories and then eating a lot because I am so hungry. (Overeating is more like it.)

I am at work right now and will leave at 3p. But I did a 20 minute boot camp workout this morning before work and ate a light and fit yogurt with water for breakfast so I am feeling good about things.

I just really wanted to weigh 130 by July 18th but I might have to reassess that goal. At this point I will settle for 135 which if I buckle down should be reachable!

peoples bodies have plateaus too, remember that.

I know. I just thought of a plateau as lasting a couple of weeks because for awhile the weight was flying off me. Now it's been nearly a month and I have not lost any. I am just frustrated and I don't want to keep overeating because of it.

Keep the faith! It will still fall off if you are doing eveything right. Exercise and diet do work...as you know. The last few pounds are the slowest to come off, at least in my experience.

Are you doing weight training 2-3 times per week? I think it helps you burn calories during regular activities, and plus, even if you don't lose any more weight you'll probably look more trim!

There comes a time while losing weight that you just stop losing weight. You may have hit a weight set point. By typing in weight set point in google, you can access alot of information about it.

Also on EHow.com you can type in How to change a set point and it has information on how to accomplish the new set point.

Keep the faith, you're almost there. You are really doing great.

I am down to 135 from 140. I, too, am sort of plateauing and not losing as much as I'd like, given counting calories and being more physically active. I'd like to be down to 130 by the end of them month. Should be do-able.

You may also not be eating enough to compensate for your activity level. The body will hold onto calories/weight for dear life if there is too much of a deficit.

Some other ideas are calorie cycling (google it) or just changing your routine - maybe instead of running 20 miles, run 10 miles and swim 10 miles.

i was also going to say, changing your routine up may help.
also its possible your body is building muscle, which weighs more. have you been measuring yourself?
